Bold Contemporary Kitchen Transformation in Huddersfield

When the homeowners moved into their architect-designed property in Edgerton, they recognised the potential the space offered. While the kitchen would have been considered highly contemporary when the house was originally built, it no longer reflected their personal style and felt dated compared to the rest of the home.

They wanted a bright, airy kitchen with plenty of storage, but the biggest challenge was finding a practical way to work around the number of doors entering the room. By combining creative design solutions with carefully selected colours and innovative storage features, we created a kitchen that feels both highly functional and completely unique.

Solving a Challenging Kitchen Layout

Located close to Greenhead Park, Lindley and the University of Huddersfield, this kitchen project required careful planning from the outset.

The room featured multiple access points, making it difficult to create a layout that felt cohesive while maintaining practical circulation throughout the space. Rather than seeing this as a limitation, the design embraced the challenge and incorporated several clever solutions to improve both functionality and aesthetics.

A spacious peninsular layout creates a natural divide between preparation and social areas while maintaining an open feel throughout the room. The addition of a breakfast bar also provides a comfortable space for informal dining and somewhere for family and friends to gather while meals are being prepared.

A Unique Combination of Colour & Personality

The new kitchen combines cabinetry from the Nobilia Laser and Senso ranges in Alpine White and Coral, creating a design that perfectly reflects the homeowners’ personality.

The fresh white cabinetry keeps the space feeling bright and open, while the Coral tall units introduce a bold statement feature that immediately draws the eye. Paired with delicate gold handles, the result feels elegant, contemporary and full of character.

White Lustre quartz worktops with a sharknose profile complete the scheme, adding a premium finish that complements both colours beautifully while enhancing the light and airy feel of the room.

Clever Storage Designed Around Everyday Living

Storage was an important consideration throughout the design process, particularly as the homeowners wanted to maximise organisation without compromising on appearance.

A pull-out larder keeps pantry items neatly organised and easy to access, while two LeMans corner units and a corner carousel make full use of areas that can often be difficult to reach. These features significantly increase the usable storage capacity of the kitchen while ensuring everything remains accessible.

One particularly innovative addition is a tambour unit with a pull-out table, which transforms an otherwise awkward corner into practical storage for smaller appliances and everyday essentials.

Innovative Design Features & Finishing Details

One of the most distinctive elements of this project is the use of walkthrough access doors that conceal an entrance to the garage. This creative solution allowed us to manage the multiple doorways entering the room while creating a stunning bank of tall Coral units that feels fully integrated into the design.

To complete the space, the homeowners selected a range of premium appliances and finishing details including:

• 1810 Company Zenduo 1.5 bowl stainless steel sink with drainer
