A Contemporary German Kitchen Transformation in Norton, Sheffield
When this client decided to renovate her home in Norton, Sheffield, she wanted to completely transform a kitchen that felt tired, dated and lacking in both storage and personality. The existing space no longer suited modern family life and didn’t offer the sociable layout or practical functionality she was looking for.
Working with German Kitchen Outlet, we redesigned the room to create a spacious open-plan kitchen centred around a striking island with views onto the garden.
Opening Up the Space
Located close to Graves Park, Meersbrook Park and Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, this Sheffield kitchen project focused on improving both the flow and feel of the home.
By opening the kitchen into the dining area, we were able to create a much brighter and more welcoming space that feels perfect for cooking, entertaining and everyday living. The homeowners specifically wanted an island that could combine cooking, preparation and seating in one central feature.
A Modern German Kitchen with Warm Contrast
This project features the Nobilia Riva range in a combination of beautiful Concrete Terra Grey and Structura Havanna Oak finishes.
The mix of textured grey cabinetry and warm wood tones creates a fresh yet inviting look, while the contrasting wood island becomes an immediate focal point in the room. Slimline Venato Nero marble worktops complete the look by adding a luxurious finish and pair perfectly with the modern colour palette.
The overall design strikes a balance between sleek German kitchen styling and a warm, practical family environment.
Practical Features Designed Around Everyday Living
Storage and usability were key priorities throughout the design process. Large drawer units provide easy access to cookware and utensils, while integrated internal bins help keep the space visually clean and uncluttered without the need for a freestanding bin.
One of the standout features is the bespoke breakfasting cupboard, designed specifically to conceal different ceiling heights and hide the home’s fuse board, while also keeping smaller appliances neatly tucked away when not in use.
The island layout creates clear zones for cooking, food preparation and casual seating, making the kitchen much more functional for both busy mornings and entertaining guests.

To complete the space, this also kitchen features premium appliances and contemporary finishing details, including:
- Bosch pyrolitic oven and combi microwave
- Elica Essential downdraft extractor
- Black Keratek inset sink
- Black mono mixer tap
- Slimline worktops and matching upstands
